Payment Options

All major credit and debit cards are accepted with the following surchages applicable:

  1. Mastercard and Visa – 2%
  2. All Debit Cards – No charge (N.B 2% for transactions on our website)

Furthermore, cheques are accepted by The Time Machine, however please note that prior to dispatching the product (s) to you the cheque must clear. Feel free to contact us if you wish to know more about this service. Both Bankers Drafts and Wire Transfers are accepted. These are subject to clearance for security and administration that could take up to three days.

We would also like to remind you that when making a payment using your Credit Card your insurance covers you. If you have any queries about this matter please get in touch with your Credit Card company for further details.

Cash

Our policy restricts us from accepting cash sums in excess of £9500.

Purchase and/or Selling a Product

Purchasing a product from our website is very easy. All you have to do is click on the add button, situated next to the product that you wish to order, and then the product will be added to your shopping basket. After this step all you have to do is either follow the on-screen instructions that are given to you, or if you prefer, complete the form on this page giving us the reference number of the product that you wish to purchase from our website.

Please fill in the form on this page if you browse through our online directory and cannot find the Watch that you are looking for so that we can try our hardest to find the exact model required. Please include all details about the watch (make, model and reference number). When we locate the model required, we will email you immediately. Please note that we never reveal our customer’s details to anybody – all details are completely secure.

You also have the option of selling a watch or jewellery to us, and we even offer part exchange and a sale/return policy. If you wish to sell a watch or jewellery to us, there are various ways that you can contact us if you want a valuation. Please give us as much information as you can as this will facilitate the accuracy of the valuation that we give to you. All prices that we give you are subject to certain conditions. For a part exchange please fill in the section of the form on this page entitled “Other information” informing us with the watch or piece of jewellery that you wish to purchase from us.

Filling in the form on this page is the most efficient way to sell your watch or jewellery. Emails that we receive are always responded to rapidly and in no longer than one working day.

However, there is also the option of posting your item(s) to us so that we can carry out a valuation. When your item has been received by us we will get in touch with you and tell you the price. Please telephone us so that we can provide you with our address that you can post the watch to and for any additional information that you need. For security reasons we recommend that when sending the item to us you use as the company name on all documentation that is sent by post. Moreover, it is essential that you include your contact details when sending us your item. All items should be posted using the extremely reliable Royal Mail Special Delivery and you can track your parcel at any time.

How to Order

Order Procedures

  • Offline

    The order procedure will be explained to you by a member of our staff. This normally involves completing a purchase order form which then has to be faxed to us through a secure line, which is imperative for insurance and security reasons.
  • Online

    Our secure online transactions are carried out by HSBC verified by Mastercard and Visa. This involves a personal password being sent to you by email which allows you to enter your Credit Card details through the HSBC secure order form. A purchase limit can be set at our discretion. Repairs

We can offer to repair most watches and jewellery including sizing of rings and stone setting. Repairs on our pre-owned watches carry a 12 month guarantee. However, repairs undertaken on watches that have not been purchased from us do not have a Swiss Time Machine guarantee.

Common Queries

  • An item is unworn - what does it mean?
    If an item is declared to be unworn then it has been sold to us without being worn after being bought new very recently. This means that the item will still have all its original seals and protective stickers, as well as the manufacturer's guarantee.
  • Item is mint condition - what does it mean?
    All of our items are given a rating according to their condition. If an item is in outstanding condition and comes with the original box and documentation then we give it mint condition. However it is not only new items that can be mint condition - older watches can also have this rating if we believe them to be in superb condition for their age. Items that do not come with the appropriate documentation (for example if the papers have been mislaid) or are slightly below this top rating are given good condition. In order to certify that our classifications of items are reasonable, we keep in touch with our clients on a regular basis. A new watch will say that it is "unworn" in the condition box.
  • What is a watch guarantee?
    A watch for sale that comes with a box and a watch guarantee means that we provide written authorisation that the watch is an authentic Swiss Watch in movement, bracelet and finally in its case. This guarantee is subsequently signed by the managing director of our company. The reason for this is generally because we have purchased the watch from a client who did not have the original documentation (due to the papers being misplaced for example).
  • If buying from abroad, can I claim back VAT?
    Swiss Time Machine only buys and sells watches and jewellery to addresses within the UK and Northern Ireland, therefore it is not possible for us to buy or sell watches overseas. The VAT on our watches has previously been paid at the time that they watch were initially bought because we deal in pre - owned watches. As a result, the price you see does not reflect VAT.   • The bracelet - is it possible for you to adjust the size?
    Of course - With any watch that you purchase from us the bracelet can be adjusted to the correct size provided that you provide us with details of your wrist size. When we complete the adjustment we will deliver your watch back to you and any spare links that have been removed will also be returned to you.
